Creative New Zealand is the national arts development organisation supporting, promoting and advocating for the arts and artists in New Zealand. 

The role will be responsible for working in conjunction with iwi, organisations across Government, funders and the cultural sector to identify, develop and deliver new and existing partnership opportunities that benefit Māori artists and Māori arts development.    

The successful candidate will have:

  • in-depth project management skills and experience with a track record of delivering results and innovation in complex environments; 
  • a high degree of competency working in a  Māori context and with Māori Governors, including tikanga Māori and respect for kaupapa Māori;
  • excellent skills in leading engagement on complex projects/issues and effective partnership approaches with others, especially Māori; 
  • experience working with Government including a good knowledge of Government and Governance processes;
  • good management skills including contract development, evaluation, monitoring and reporting;
  • existing Māori and cultural sector networks;
  • sound oral and written communication skills.
  • a good appreciation of issues affecting Māori arts development in New Zealand.

This is a challenging and exciting position which will require a consultative approach and innovative thinking.
