Hey, artist you look strangely familiar.

Have we seen you or your work before; on the street, in a gallery, popping up at random?

Maybe you have a great idea you've always wanted to play with or an exsiisting piece the could shine at Splore?

The Splore arts programme is rich with works that embrace Splore's culture, theme and the beauty of Tapapakanga Park. The most successful are those that engage and connect the audience, embrace Splore's commitment to sustainability and respond to the ancient homeland of the tangata whenua Ngāti Whanaunga and Ngāti Pāoa Where appropriate.

Projects can include but are not limited to:

  • Spatial - artworks that occupy, create or define space and take advantage of landscape features (terrain, water and trees)
  • Interactive – projects that the festival goers physically interact with or require them to assist in the movement, configuration or assembling of works
  • Live installation - artworks that are installed created or work-shopped on site during the festival weekend.
  • Community - Projects that invite audiences to touch, spin, weave, sew and create objects and/or memorabilia that can be used during or after festival.
  • Kinetic and transient artworks - light/kinetic/sound sculptures (electrically powered or wind driven etc). Sculpture or Object Art – artworks in various materials that are already made or will be made for placement in the park landscape.
  • Collaborative Inter-Arts Projects – artworks that are developed collaboratively by practitioners from a different mediums, eg filmmaker/sculptor working/architect collaborate to make a work
  • For 2017, Slore invites artists, designers, filmmakers, architects, performing artists and creatives to explore 'the strangely familiar' in any way that appeals to you and will delight the Splore community.
