Work with the National Fisheries College to maximise the potential of their new event space by establishing a Media and Communications Centre.

The college has recently built a new auditorium/amphitheatre and they now require a multimedia wiz to share their skills to develop its media centre. There is scope within this assignment to have significant input into what is required for the centre to operate successfully, including recruiting new staff members. This is also a highly practical role where you will be helping to set-up new audio-visual equipment and establish a sound booth to get the centre up and running.

The centre will be multifunctional and the college aims to use it to develop educational materials, including film and radio resources. Through mentoring and training key staff in various aspects of audio-visual production (design, direction and editing), you will help to produce quality educational resources for students.

This is a 1-year assignment based in Kavieng, New Ireland.

VSA is looking for a volunteer who has:

  • Experience in the audio visual industry, especially with visual story telling
  • Experience in basic video and radio production and good understanding of the production workflow
  • Sound knowledge of operating HD video cameras and the capture of high quality sound
  • Sound knowledge in lighting
  • Sound knowledge of operating Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, Adobe Audition and Soundtrack or other editing software
  • Ability to supervise production services
  • Experience providing on-the job training and mentoring

VSA volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation, insurance, and medical costs are provided. Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs.
