The Ministry of Education in partnership with the Ministry for Culture and Heritage Te Manatū Taonga and Creative New Zealand invites professional artists or creative practitioners to work with schools and kura across Aotearoa and apply together for funding to deliver their creative project for students in 2022.

Up to 117 projects will be funded for Round 3, which will take place in 2022. Creative projects are not limited to visual arts, dance, drama and music. The programme is open to other artforms such as filmmaking, game design, fashion design, spoken word, Pacific arts, and ngā toi Māori such as raranga, whakairo and more.

Schools and kura can either work with creatives from their community or select one or more creatives on the  Available creatives  page. We encourage all creatives interested in participating in Creatives in Schools to complete an Expression of Interest with the Ministry, so that interested schools can find them on the  Available creatives page.

How to apply

The creative will work together with the school or kura on their creative project application.

The school will then submit the application online through the Creatives in Schools website:

The website also has information and tips to help assist with creating your project. If you need further assistance, contact the Ministry of Education:

Applications for Round 3 are open from 18 June 2021 to 20 August 2021.
