Pride is back and prouder than ever!

The Proud Centres team invites the community to submit their events to be part of our 2022 programme.

Auckland Council’s Proud Centres is a series of free, fun community events across Tāmaki Makaurau, as part of Auckland Pride Festival, to promote the acceptance of our Rainbow communities, embrace diversity and celebrate unity.

Each year in February, Proud Centres brings council’s network of community facilities and libraries to life with a variety of vibrant and entertaining activities for local communities to enjoy. Ranging from cooking classes to drag bingo, sports tournaments and a masquerade ball, alongside more serious events covering important LGBTQIA+ issues, Proud Centres provides opportunities for all Aucklanders to come together, connect, learn, share and participate in Pride.

Our aim for Proud Centres 2022 is to build a programme that celebrates, raises visibility and representation of Auckland's Rainbow communities while ensuring the spaces and platforms we are providing are safe and inclusive.

For inspiration, check out some of the fabulous events from previous years on the Proud Centres Facebook page.

How to apply

If you are interested in producing something special for Pride at one of council’s centres or libraries, then please submit your event to Proud Centres by visiting aucklandpride.org.nz/register and filling out the form.

Applications close 12 December 2021.

Auckland Council is a proud sponsor of the Auckland Pride Festival and an enthusiastic supporter of Rainbow communities in Tāmaki Makaurau.
