The Venue and Events Team deliver fun and engaging events within our region that aim to support and celebrate the history, language and culture of our diverse arts communities, while improving the wellbeing of our city through events that engage, celebrate and connect communities and individuals. This role is very rewarding as our community appreciate our city events and you get to make a positive impact on the wellbeing of our communities.

About the role


This full-time role assists in the implementation and delivery of our Whangarei Community Events Program. You will support the Events Manager and Events Team with events happening across our district. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Creating and improving the wellbeing event offerings for the community
  • Planning, implementation and facilitation of general events
  • Developing new initiatives based on community feedback
  • Engaging with all Whangarei communities to ensure we provide a vibrant and exciting range of events for our district


About you


The ideal candidate will be a proactive, friendly, team player who possesses great communication skills, excellent time management skills and the ability to deliver under pressure.


You will bring to this role:

  • Proven experience in the events industry
  • Physically fit and able to regularly lift heavy items
  • A proactive work ethic
  • A desire to collaborate and partner with key stakeholders  
  • A current full and clean New Zealand Drivers Licence
  • Creativity and initiative while working with communities to create and deliver events
