Circa Theatre is one of New Zealand’s leading professional theatres with performances running six days a week throughout the year.  



We are looking for a new person to join our Box Office team for casual evening and weekend work. This position is casual with a certain degree of flexibility around hours per week depending on your availability and the demands of the theatre program. Hours range from 6 up to 20 per week and shifts begin at 3pm running through till the last show of the evening (around 8pm/8:30pm). This is an independent contracting role. 


As a Box Office team member, you will be responsible for: 

  • Selling, printing, filing, and handing out tickets 

  • Selling other products 

  • Answering phone calls and responding to emails 

  • Maintaining patron databases 

  • Cashing up 

  • Helping visitors in the building 


This role would be ideal for a student or other individual looking for casual evening and weekend work who has an interest in theatre/performing arts, can work independently and thrives in a customer-facing, fast paced environment. We offer shared on-site parking (and public transport close), free tickets to shows, and the opportunity to be a part of one of Aotearoa's longest-running professional theatres.  


Key Skills 

The ideal candidate will be patient, positive, and personable. Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure are also desired. It can be a very fast-paced, customer-facing environment so a degree of flexibility and multitasking is often needed. Sales skills and confidence are also highly desirable.  

Experience with PatronBase or another ticketing system (or another type of CRM system) is desired but not essential. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Computer competency is a must. 


About Circa 

Circa is run by the Circa Council who provide the overarching direction of the Theatre, and the professional members of the Council volunteer their time to do so. A small administrative team oversee the day-to-day running of the Theatre as well as supporting each show. The core team are supported by volunteers. Circa runs its own Box Office, looked after by our Box Office Manager and a small team of Box Office Staff.
