Gifting books and promoting a love of reading to over 100,000 children nationwide reinforces our vision to inspire a love of books. A nation that reads are communities that succeed!
Around 40% of New Zealanders lack the functional literacy skills to enable them to fully participate in our society and economy. All New Zealanders should be part of our nation’s prosperity and participate fully in society.
Duffy Books in Homes was launched in 1994 to bring the joy of reading and ownership of brand new books to tamariki and whanau in schools that need it the most. For almost 30 years we have delivered over 14 million books into the hands of our tamariki from 0-13 years of age.
Our core business delivering books into schools celebrates book choice and ownership for each child during Duffy school role model assemblies. This involves the placement of NZ personalities/role models in more than 500 schools across the motu to share diverse, colourful inspirational stories, and how the impact of reading plays an important role in each of their successful journeys.
Our fabulous New Zealand role models appear in school assemblies twice a year. This year’s role models will share their stories and help present books to tamariki in over 520 schools.
We are seeking an experienced Events Coordinator, to plan role model placements across 200 plus schools in our Northern region including Auckland. As the main contact for role model events in the region, you will be coordinating all aspects of schools and role models and more importantly managing relationships with schools and current role models, whilst growing this network of relevant and diverse speakers.
We also want to discover other opportunities for our celebration events to increase engagement and be more creative for our schools and amazing role models. This is a key role in the success of our programme and works closely with each section of our perfect little team. You will have oversight and responsibility for promotional events, showcasing the Duffy programme to increase awareness and generate funding opportunities. These events may include:
- Funding partner promotions
- Schools promotional events
- Community and organisation exhibitions
- Manage and support launch and fundraising events
Our team are a small, lean and passionate crew creating enjoyment and opportunities to help thousands of tamariki and their whanau discover not only their favourite book but the power of reading.
Join us if you are ready to start immediately, be a team player, able to build relationships, skilled multitasker, creative thinker, problem solver, super organised and community-driven.
