Project Manager Kaupapa Māori (fixed term).

Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the Aotearoa/ New Zealand and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. Biculturalism is a founding philosophy and practice of Te Papa designed to explore the contribution of Māori language and culture to the life, culture and activities of the museum in small and large ways. Te Papa fosters and nurtures cross-cultural capability, the ability of people of different cultural backgrounds to interact with one another in positive and uplifting ways.

The Project Management Office at Te Papa is diverse in the projects we deliver - from exhibitions to public programmes, to commercial activity, to our operational requirements, to maintaining our buildings that house our National taonga. We are looking for someone to join our team and help build a Te Aō Māori approach into the way we deliver projects across Te Papa.

We are looking for a new team member who enjoys working collaboratively with others and brings a strong work ethic and professional approach.  You'll work across Te Papa kaimahi and with iwi, communities, specialists and artists to deliver projects that connect Aotearoa/ New Zealand with our taonga, treasures and culture. While working on a range of projects, this role has a particular focus on Matauranga and iwi co-development.

It's a given that you have proven project management technical skills and experience. In addition, you'll be known in the iwi or cultural sector as an experienced project professional. You'll be a ‘people person' and be able to build teams around you formally and informally and you'll calmly and steadily guide them to success.  Knowledge of Te Reo Māori is desirable and would be an advantage.

We are open to considering candidates at Project Manager or Senior Project Manager level.  The salary range for this position covering both of these levels is $72,000 to $117,000pa. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees.  The position is fixed term until 30 January 2024.

If you relish variety and thrive in a flexible working environment, we would love you to consider joining our whanau.  Please complete the application form and send us your CV and cover letter today!

Applications close on 25 August 2022.

Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand.

Appointment to a position at Te Papa will require a declaration of Vaccination Status (confirmation that you are currently ‘up to date' with vaccination against COVID 19 or, you are not currently vaccinated or ‘up to date' with vaccination against COVID-19). Future appointees will also need to agree to comply with any future Government or Te Papa mandates or requirements relating to vaccination against COVID-19.

Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
