Tim Melville is looking for an Assistant to manage the Gallery’s office and admin, as well as to be a friendly and welcoming face for our front of house.
The job is multi-faceted and rewarding, and as well as daily face-to-face and email interactions with clients and collectors it entails the cataloguing and packing of artworks, stockroom management, website maintenance and social media.
You will be working with emerging, mid-career and senior artists and your understanding of New Zealand, Māori, Pacific and Aboriginal art will be broadened.
You will also meet and build invaluable connections with a wide range of art world professionals, including writers, curators and Gallery Directors.
Your ideal attributes include:
A working knowledge of contemporary New Zealand and International art alongside an understanding of Te Ao Maori.
Excellent written and oral communication.
A strong eye for detail.
The ability to comfortably work alone.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe and Photoshop.
Depending on the exhibition programme some flexibility may be required in terms of hours and days worked, however the job will entail no less than 30 hours per week.
Previous arts sector and/or gallery experience is ideal. Previous customer service experience is essential.
