Te Pou Theatre is a kaupapa Māori Performing Arts venue for all and a prolific presenter of Māori theatre in Auckland.  We believe in the mana enhancing power of storytelling and the importance of community spaces where everyone can connect with te ao māori through the arts.

We provide an accessible theatre venue for all, an annual programme of Māori theatre works and opportunities for development in the performing arts.  See our website here: www.tepoutheatre.nz 

Next year we will open the doors of our newly built whare at Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson, Tāmaki Makaurau.  We are looking for a Kaiwhakatairanga to join our small and dedicated team to be a kākā wahanui for Te Pou; sharing our venue and productions and growing our whānau at this exciting time.  
 

The Offer
We are offering full time or part time employment (minimum 20 hours per week), depending on what the person brings to the role and their needs. Contracting is also an option.

The remuneration for this role is between $60,000 and $70,000 per annum (pro-rata for part time) + Kiwisaver.

The Mahi
The Kaiwhakatairanga mahi will be engaging and varied including marketing, sales, design, website, communications and audience development. The role will work across the whole team, from productions to fundraising, helping to communicate and promote Te Pou Theatre.  The Kaiwhakatairanga role will need someone who is a clear and compassionate communicator, who thinks outside the box and is inspired by Māori performing arts.         
 

The mahi will include:

  • Marketing and advertising shows with Te Pou Theatre

  • Communications with our venue hirers, audiences and community

  • Kaimanaaki for new hirers and community to Te Pou Theatre

  • Managing the content of our Website (wordpress - tutorials given)

  • Overseeing the design of Te Pou communications with graphic design work required

  • Working with the kaihautū to deliver our marketing and communications strategy ‘Te Karanga’  

We are open to other options such as job sharing so please don't hestiate to contact us if you are keen to work part time only, or feel your skills need support in some areas.

Ideally the Kaiwhakatairanga will bring: 

  • Competency with reo Māori and an understanding of tikanga Māori

  • Strong communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous experience in promotion and communicating with the public

  • Experience with marketing content creation, graphic design social media, Mailchimp, Canva / Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office.  We also use PatronBase CRM and will provide training.

  • Experience with working to tight deadlines and quick turnarounds.

  • Initiative and self motivation, and enthusiasm to the mahi.
