Crispin Glover features in Dunedin Fringe

Iconic and eccentric Los Angeles actor, director and writer, Crispin Hellion Glover comes to New Zealand for the first time with his Big Slide Show and Films.

Crispin Glover may not be a house-hold name but the iconic characters he has portrayed are etched firmly into the memories of cinema audiences world wide – George McFly (Back to the Future), Andy Warhol (The Doors movie), Thin Man (Charlie's Angels), Stayne - Knave of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland) to name a few. He has also appeared in films by David Lynch and Werner Herzog and to top it off in 2007 Glover appeared in the film Beowulf as the monster Grendal.

Now, for the first time ever, the man behind the characters is coming to New Zealand for a live performance of his own work at the Dunedin Fringe Festival (16 & 17 March) and in Auckland (19 March). This one-of-a-kind event makes its New Zealand debut at the 2013 Dunedin Fringe Festival (14-24 March).

Each evening Glover will present two different live shows incorporating a slide show performance of his illustrated books, one of his provocative and surreal films, followed by a Q&A and book signing. The evening begins with the Big Slide Show during which Glover performs a one-hour dramatic narration of eight “profusely illustrated” books while the images from the books are projected behind Glover. Glover's books are re-workings of 20 books from the 1800's into new books with added words and illustrations by Glover. There is a different slide show performed each night followed by a different feature film.

On March 16 the Glover presents his film It is fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE, and on March 17 What Is It?. Both of these films come from a yet to be completed "It" trilogy. Provocative, surreal and challenging, these films are guaranteed to be memorable.
