With HUM’s 5th birthday coming up in December, the non-profit arts organisation is proud to relaunch its platform with new navigation tools and a new look to better support its activity as the leading hub for critical discourse on arts from Aotearoa New Zealand. New Zealand artists continue to excel on the global stage, showing in major institutions around the world, and HUM has established itself as the go-to resource and portal for audiences to stay informed while increasing the visibility of artists from Aotearoa. As a digital forum, HUM has become increasingly relevant during these times of travel restrictions for New Zealand and international readers alike.

HUM’s new website design by New Zealand developers Sons & Co features custom-built functionalities, innovative content navigation and a completely redesigned calendar of events. This means readers are now able to:

  • Explore the entire site by location, topic, artist or contributor name

  • Easily browse through publications from the past five years, including almost 100 essays, reviews, interviews, and conversations in the Writing section

  • Use the new Calendar page to find out who’s working where on a global scale

  • Learn about special projects including partnerships, collaborations, and public events; all of HUM’s complementary activity to their main publishing work

  • Discover more artists and creative practitioners from Aotearoa New Zealand and follow their offshore presence

  • Join HUM’s Publishers Circle and receive the HUMcard - an exclusive mailout by an artist or curator from Aotearoa New Zealand sharing insights into their latest international project

Contemporary HUM wishes to thank everyone who has supported the initiative over the past four years, especially those who donated to the fundraising campaign last year. HUM’s success is the result of the continued generosity and encouragement of the wider arts community in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.

The entire team at HUM hopes you’ll enjoy this new platform for Aotearoa New Zealand arts abroad.
