The Wonder of the Mandolin - Mothers' Day

“THE WONDER OF THE MANDOLIN”

2011 Winter Series “The Wonder of the Mandolin”

First concert for 2011 will be on Mothers’ Day 3.30pm Sunday 8 May

Irish Club Rocky Nook Rd, Fowlds Park, Mt Albert

The Auckland Mandolinata Orchestra will again be led by Bryan Holden, who directed the 50+ players of the international mandolin ensemble early this year.

LynneSue and John Flameling will charm with an interlude.  LynneSue is the concertmaster and makes the mandolin sparkle, and together with John, an insightful guitarist, always delight with their rapport and sensitivity to the moods of their music.

Some pieces from the international camp will be performed during the winter series, including newly commissioned works and excerpts from 'Ring Around the Moon' by internationally acclaimed New Zealand composer, David Farquhar.  Other tunes that may also feature are special arrangements of 'Peer Gynt' for plectrum orchestra and Chinese folk songs supported by the Poll Tax Fund.

Players have increased their professionalism over the summer by taking part in the camp and are ready to once again enhance their audiences when they play.
