VIBE Youth Arts Festival 2018 Connecting Youth in West Auckland

VIBE Youth Arts Festival is coming to Corban Estate Arts Centre on Saturday 30 June, 2018.  Last year the inaugural VIBE Festival featured more than 40 music acts, workshops, and the internationally acclaimed DJ SPELL.

Once again the festival will include a variety of activities, workshops, street art, exhibitions, and live performances.

“Vibe is led by young people and youth organisations from across West Auckland,” says Martin Sutcliffe, Director at Corban Estate Arts Centre. The festival was an initiative established by Corban Estate Arts Centre to bring together a number of youth focused groups working in the area, in the spirit of collaboration and bridging a gap.  While Corban Estate Arts Centre is the home site of VIBE on the day, the festival is owned and treasured by the whole community.

VIBE Festival is an opportunity for youth to see what creative activity is available to them “out West” and to highlight the ample artistic talent that is based in West Auckland.

The festival once again brings together youth organisations, such as Zeal, McLaren Park Henderson South, Ranui 135, Kākano Youth Arts Collective, Mixit, the Crescendo Trust of Aotearoa, CAYAD and more from all over West Auckland.

VIBE Co-ordinator Renee Casserly says, “There’s something for everyone to try or enjoy - if you are into visual arts, singing, music, rap, dance, theatre, design or craft.  We want to provide a space where people can see what’s on offer, and maybe get a taste for something they’ve always wanted to try.”

The VIBE team is keen to grow and is looking for other collaborators and organisations that might be interested in becoming involved. They also welcome interest from keen individuals that wish to participate as performers, volunteers, or interns on the day. Please contact Renee Casserly (contact details below) if there is anything you specialise in as there are many internship positions available. It’s great for the resume, great exposure for an artist and a really great way to get involved with our amazing community).
