The New Zealand Book Council has three major literary events in store for book lovers in the last week of July.

Seven Wellington poets, including current Te Mata poet laureate Jenny Bornholdt celebrate Montana Poetry Day on Friday 22 July, 12.00pm - 1.00pm at the National Library Auditorium. Also reading are poets James Brown, Bill Manhire, Gregory O'Brien, Geoff Cochrane, Chris Price and Ashleigh Young. Ticket prices for this event are $5 members; $6 unwaged
and $7 non members.

Wellingtonians will have an opportunity to hear award-winning Wild Swans author Jung Chang and her husband, the historian Jon Halliday, when they speak to Sean Plunket about their new groundbreaking biography of Mao Tse-tung at a New Zealand Book Council event at St Andrew's on The Terrace, Monday 25 July 2005, 12.30pm-1.30pm. Ticket prices for this event are $10 Book Council members; $12 students/unwaged and $15 non members.

Then, on Tuesday 26 July, readers get a chance to hear what drives our top writers when Kim Hill talks to the eight award-winners of the 2005 Montana New Zealand Book Awards. This event takes place in Wellington at the PricewaterhouseCoopers Gallery, Westpac St James Theatre, 12.30pm - 1.30pm. Ticket prices for this event are $10 Book Council members; $12 students/unwaged and $15 non members.
