During October, Auckland photographers are invited to submit images of architecture to the Auckland Photo Blog to celebrate its first anniversary. The photograph chosen as Photo of The Month will win a Olympus digital camera worth $250. The community site was launched on in October 2006 by the Auckland Festival of Photography.

Image: Pattern Life by Won Ho KimThe Auckland Photo Blog aims to provide a free platform for local photographers of all ages and experience to digitally display their best images of their environment, people and places around Auckland region.

Festival organiser Julia Durkin says images of local architecture have always been a popular choice for blog enthusiasts.

Dates for the 2008 Festival have also been announced: 6-27 June.

Durkin says the ASB Community Trust has generously agreed to support the Festival for a second year. "The Trust's backing is a huge vote of support for the festival," she says.

Durkin says festival organsers are also delighted to announce that next year's event will expand into include Manukau City, as well as returning to Waitakere City and North Shore City. All these city councils are supporting the 2008 Festival.

Around 30,000 people attended Festival events and exhibitions in 2007, across 46 exhibitions in Auckland region, making this year's event the most successful on record.
