Celebrating 25 years of Maori Theatre

2008 is a year of celebration for Taki Rua Productions and our audiences. From its inception at the Deport Theatre in 1983, Taki Rua Productions has gone on to make Aotearoa its stage and with our 2008 programme we celebrate 25 years of theatre.

2008 is a year of celebration for Taki Rua Productions and our audiences. From its inception at the Deport Theatre in 1983, Taki Rua Productions has gone on to make Aotearoa its stage and with our 2008 programme we celebrate 25 years of theatre.

Touring to all major arts festivals and building momentum with annual tours to rural regions, Taki Rua Productions continues its commitment to ensuring that professional Maori theatre remains a vital and accessible component of New Zealand's arts community.

Our fourth collaboration with the New Zealand International Festival of the Arts starts the year off with the premiere season of Te Karakia by Bruce Mason Award winning playwright Albert Belz. We also welcome the return of the award-winning Strange Resting Places by Paolo Rotondo and Rob Mokaraka for a national rural tour sponsored by Transpower.

And celebrating our 13th annual Te Reo Maori tour we are proud to present a new work inspired by the classic Pukunui Books series written by James Waerea. 20/02/08
