Auckland Council are very pleased to be supporting, in collaboration with Te Hana Te Ao Marama, Te Herenga Waka o Orewa and Awataha Marae, the free delivery in north Auckland of Karapinepine, a performance by the esteemed theatre group, Taki Rua Productions.
Karapinepine means to gather in, to bring close. The action of Karapinepine ranges from the softness one has when they bring in a p?pi to the chest right to the gathering of 100’s of people around them. This name emerged from thinking about how we could gather and collect from around the country through this year’s show. It also emerged from thinking about rangatiratanga. To ranga is to weave, a tira is a group, and –tanga makes this weaving of a group into an action.
