Creative Momentum asked three artists who have a connection to the world of disability to talk about disability and their work; reflect on the past and future; and offer advice to emerging artists. In this story we feature their responses.
Brandi Lyons began an illustration career in 1996 when "competing to attend a vocational school for commercial art resulted in a scholarship winning portfolio applied to a BA in digital and traditional animation. I learned to illustrate in both digital and fine art media. Currently, I write and illustrate children's books for Gilt Edge Publishing in New Zealand. I also work author events and marketing at BookPeople in Austin, Texas."
Aidan Moesby is a text based artist from UK, whose major focus “is the linguistic and visual imagery we use to create and make sense of our own personal mythologies - our own stories - that we play out in the world.”
Mica describes himself as a contemporary artist who, “over 25 years ago ... embarked on a journey of discovery, self-discovery, learning and unlearning which led [him] to Aotearoa New Zealand in 1984.”
