New Zealand and the islands of the Pacific, however, share a unique spirit of devleoping new art practices that produce challenging, fresh work while preserving the core cultural identity of the artists.
This dichotomy, traditional culture blending with new innovations is of course, not a new concept but it is a brave move for any artist to look at their world, reassess, reinterpret and re-present.
