28 January to 13 February 2005 Artists are invited to submit proposals for Sculpture on the Gulf 2005 to be held from 28th January to 13th February 2005 Sculpture on the Gulf offers artists: - A superb opportunity to showcase sculpture (for sale where appropriate) to a large audience - The challenge to create new and site specific works for this inspiring coastal landscape. - A unique and unusual experience during installation on Waiheke Island, enjoying the warmth and hospitality of organizers, the company of artists and the support of locals.

The selectors for the Sculpture on the Gulf 2005 event are Lara Strongman (Programme Manager at Wellington City Gallery), Lisa Reihana (Lecturer in Moving Image at the Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland) and Chris Saines. (Director, Auckland Art Gallery). In acknowledgement of the unusual nature of this events location and the investment artists make in putting forward a sculpture, the organizers of Sculpture on the Gulf 2005 will no longer offer awards. Instead, we will offer a financial contribution to costs for the selected artists. The Organizers will provide storage in Auckland, transport of works between Auckland and Waiheke and back, and insurance against accidental breakage for the duration of the exhibition.

Deadline for proposals is Friday 18th June 2004 For further information and entry forms please contact exhibition co-ordinator Jackie O'Brien or visit our website at www.sculptureonthegulf.co.nz
