In this mesmeric dance theatre production, the spirit of a 19th century Music Hall MC (Marmaduke Causeway) attempts to ease our journey into the dream-like realm of possible answers. Our journey takes us from laboratories into mazes, libraries, gardens and finally into the void itself. (Will we ever return?)
Liberal showers of hope and humour brighten the way as an ecstatic wind carries a scattering of Sufi poetry across our path.
The Operation of the Sun is performed by Jessica Sutherland (Masters in Theatre Arts Toi Whakaari/Victoria University) and Rhys Latton (Best Solo Performer 2004), with electronic composition by Leyton (2004 Chapman-Tripp nominee), live music by Rosie Langabeer (Zirkus) and Kate Telford, puppets by Rebekah Wild (Wild Theatre) are animated by Pipi Evans.
Ake Ake bring this re-worked, full-length version of The Operation of the Sun to Dunedin, with the help of the Creative Communities Dunedin Fund.
