The annual short film festival was due to finish up in mid January after a week in each of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Motueka and Whitianga. However, screenings of the six films that were finalists for the awards will now also screen in Havelock North and Featherston.Festival Director Gina Dellabarca says, "I've been inundated with calls and emails from cinemas all around the country since the festival kicked off this year, wanting to screen our selection of short films. It's very gratifying, but we only have a limited amount of resources, so most of the locations will have to wait until the 2009 festival."

"People are reacting with enthusiasm to the films, and are often surprised by the quality. We are gratified by this warm response, which we attribute to the great ideas behind the short films and the talented individuals making them. 'Noise Control' which won the Best Film award this year, always gets a particularly loud clap and lots of giggles throughout. Audiences love this bizarre true story with real voices set to animated images."

A screening of the Show Me Shorts films will open the Black Barn Open Air Film Festival in Havelock North on the 27th of December. The Featherston Cinema will then be the final venue for Show Me Shorts on Friday the 13th of Feb at 1:15pm and Saturday the 14th of Feb at 8pm.

The call for entries for the 2009 festival will open in March.
